The video focuses on the insane situation of big business and the industrialization of agriculture. But that is only the beginning. We are all concerned about the chemicals that are used on our food, and we -at some level- are concerned with the growing practices used in growing our food.

Future of Food talks about the pesticide / chemical companies and how they have already bought up most of the major seed suppliers. The science community employed by Big Farming / Chemical has been working diligently on learning how to genetically modify our food and the plants that grow yield them and implementing those strategies.

The situation is alarming. I am very concerned.

The scientists have created something called ‘the suicide gene’ which does not allow the plant to produce for more than one season. That is terrifying, especially after learning how these companies growing GMO (genetically modified organism crops) test fields openly admit to the fact that they cannot be contained and spread to natural crops.

This is leading to the extinction of so many plant species and the destruction of agricultural diversification.

I must also point out the fact that even though the constitution strictly states that you cannot patent food or organisms, Big Farming has managed to do just that. Now we have giant corporate conglomerates that actually own organisms. These organisms cannot be contained in the wild and are infiltrating natural crops. Once this infiltration has taken place, the business that owns the patent, now owns the plant. Literally robbing our farmers legally! The implications of this type of breach in the constitution and ethical guidelines is VERY ALARMING.

I want the community to jump in and discuss this film. This article is intended to provide purpose for the thread. Even if you haven’t watched the film but would like to add something please do, but i highly recommend watching it.
