The Spirituality of Food
Eating is not just a physical requirement / exercise

Greetings in light/love. This idea was spawned from a previous article that has been received well called The Morality of Food filed under the Future of Food category. That article dealt very specifically with the outer world manifestation of the choices we make concerning what type of food we buy / eat, where it comes from, and how it was produced. That article posed some very challenging moral questions that go against the grain [so to speak].
The Metaphysics of Food
I would like to expand the discussion into the realm of the metaphysical.

The Morality of Food
We all eat. We are all part of the system.
This is a topic i’ve given quite a lot of thought and will reach out to several communities with.
Vegan?
Vegitarian?
Health Conscious?
Omnivore?
Fast Food / Restaurant Junkie?
Generally unconcerned about what you eat as long as it tastes good?
No matter what discipline you adhere to you feed off of life to derive your own physical energies. There are all sorts of different moral boundaries and guidlines involved with the different individuals following these disciplines.
You’ve got the: Animal Rights, Global Impact, Health Conscious, Apathetic, and various combinations of the previous.
Purpose
I’m simply trying to pose questions and see what some other thoughts are. When you scale things up and down they become quite different in regards to the moral guidelines. One question is this: What is the difference in eating an animal and eating a plant? Read the rest of this entry »

This is an open forum discussion about the film: The Future of Food
If you haven’t watched it yet, click on the link above to watch it for free.
The video focusses on the insane situation of big business and the industrialization of agriculture. But that is only the begining. We are all concerned about the chemicals that are used on our food, and we -at some level- are concerned with the growing practices used in growing our food.
Future of Food talks about the pesticide / chemical companies and how they have already bought up most of the major seed supliers. The science community employed by Big Farming / Chemical has been working diligently on learning how to genetically modify our food and the plants that grow yield them and implementing those strategies.
