Secrecy, disclosure, and the ‘blanky’
Published by Time_Spiral under Inspiration,Introduction,The Disclosure Project on January 3, 2008Secrets. They have been a powerful weapon for thousands of years. But, are they losing some of their efficacy now, in the modern world?
Societies across this globe, their management structures, and the world stage are unmistakeably interwoven and incredibly complex. I don’t think anyone would deny or contest that. There are certain tools/methods that have been used for generations that remain largely unchanged. I want to talk about one of these tools/methods: Secrecy
Advantages, elements, and the temporal degradation of effectiveness
The primary methods and techniques for implementing secrecy are generally regarded as negative: lies, deception, misdirection, disguise, and concealment, just to name a few. But just because these methods carry a negative connotation does not necessarily mean that the motivation, or the end is negative. Sometimes it certainly is, but sometimes it is not. That aspect of the conversation is subjective.
But the fundamentals of secrecy, as well as disclosure, have dramatically changed in the last generation. Things will never be the same.
